Queer Care LA: Rise

  • Everybody 1845 North San Fernando Road Los Angeles, CA, 90065 United States (map)

Once again I am grateful to be vending at the Queer Care LA event, Rise. This Sunday among the many amazing healers and creators I will be offering my regular magickal fair of unique essences and incense, and premiering four new pieces.

  • Magnolia flower essence - As an ancestral power piece
  • Violet Flame gem essence - to connect and empower your magick
  • Abramelin + oil - Abramelin+ is the traditional recipe PLUS trance-related power plants, in minute amounts.
  • Awaken Incense - to help bridge our awareness of the community across the veil that stands in support with us.

In addition I've collected a variety of stones that I use to create the gem essences and I will be offering them to carry as pocket stones or take as magickal pieces with you.

WORKSHOPS

2pm - Herbal First Aid for Health Justice with Folasade Musa
In these uncertain times, learning how to handle our own medical emergencies is critical. Participants of this workshop will gain the confidence and skills to handle a number of health crisis situations using plant allies.

3pm - "Spirit of Flowers" with Guadalupe R. Chavez (Agua Dulce Healing) In this healing session we will experience a sweet grounding by learning and communing with the Spirit of Flowers. Each participant will make their own Flower + Herb Medicine Bundle. Each person will choose a Flower Card to help intention their medicine bundle.

4pm- {Spirit Poems} Embodied Writing Workshop + Healing Circle
with Sofia Rose Smith {www.sofiarosesmith.com}
Let us gather in ceremony with one another to write and rest.
In this short workshop, we’ll take some time to relax into our breath. We’ll call in our Ancestors and the Earth itself, who are always holding us. Then, we’ll write from our beautifully queer bodies, and let magic pour from our tongues & fingers. We’ll leave feeling the power of our medicine.

ABOUT EVERYBODY

EVERYBODY is a fitness + wellness space in NE LA / Cypress Park, devoted to providing a safe and supportive environment for all bodies to move, strengthen, and heal. We believe that health and wellness should be accessible, affordable and adaptive to all people regardless of their gender, race, age, size, or ability.

ACCESSIBILITY

QUEER CARE LA will take place in the outdoor courtyard space at EVERYBODY. It is partially covered and set back from the street.

Single stall, gender neutral restrooms are located inside the gym.

Please come **free of scents** (colognes, perfumes, oils, body products, laundry detergent, etc.) If you have questions about this, post here or feel free to directly email one of our organizers, Jonah at jonahalinedaniel at gmail dot com. We are also working with the vendors to make sure that essential oil products aren't detrimental to anyone's health.

Getting there/parking: there are several bus lines that can get you to the location: the 90, 91, 94 and 794 lines on San Fernando Road, and the 28 on Cypress Road (directly behind the location.) There is also a parking lot on the premises and another large lot right across the street at the Rio State Park.

If anyone needs some quiet time during the event, there is a park directly across the street with a lot of green and peaceful walking paths.

The organizers of Queer Care have also composed a Statement of Purpose, here below. We hope this helps you all get to know us a little better!

QUEER CARE STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
We are a group of queer radical herbalists + healers organizing intentionally as a multi-racial collective with diverse class, religious, and ability backgrounds. We are committed to healing justice, radical mental health, and class accessibility.

We aim to create and support community for queer herbal practitioners and folks seeking herbal healing, via educational events, skillshares, and workshops that center herbalists of color and resist cultural appropriation.

Because of the ways in which capitalism and government regulation control and commodify sacred and community-based herbal traditions, we seek to contribute to an alternative model of access to herbal medicine.
