November is here, All Saint's Day, Dia de los Muertos, the Mighty Dead, however you celebrate Samhain the festival of those who've gone before has come. You may have honored the occasion on the 31st as Halloween (observed), or today, or like me you may be waiting for the cross-quarter day between the Autumn Equinox and the Winter Solstice because you like to get nerdy with certain details when it comes to timing. Although I am not very persnickety about all the minutia, I do like aspects of timing, as aligned as possible.
I like to be ready for all of my dates.
Speaking of dates there are some interesting notes in the monthly overview for November. Drawing from three decks I noted two cards "Attraction," the Two of Vessels in the Wildwood Tarot, and The Lovers, from the Tarot of the spirit, creating an echo of as above so below in the reading. Two of vessels is, for me, in many ways the micro to The Lovers Macro; The Major Arcana detailing the large energetics and the vessels playing with the "how to" (or the minutia) of the energy.
As an overview I'd like to pen the energies into the following process:
This months path is found in aligning my awareness in my loving nature, in my most intimate and compassionate, and enacting that energy in my day-to-day, most crucially in the moments of crossing where conflict, frustration, or fear is most active. Acting from love... and I do not necessarily mean romantic love, please choose your highest and most visceral definition--and blend--I mean your most active and dynamic love. Acting from love in the spaces we find most confining is the greatest magick. Through these acts we create space, invite transformation, create flow and manifest new dimensions of experience by applying love in our personal, challenging situations.
You see love isn't just for Rumi quotes, and Meme's from the internet. It isn't just poetry and high-flying adore, because it's a verb, an active principle that we generate and express from our the center of our being into the life we are living now. This is "the Great Work," applying our highest values through living our greatest love.
There are, fixed-points in this work, in the ideas we foster within ourself and we may find these as obstacles, revealed as hardened, stubborn, refusal for the sake of ideals; where love wishes to express in more humanistic, and caring demonstrations.
So I've dressed the Tarot space with a few stones such as Rose Quartz, and Soul-Twin quartz points, Blue Coral for the Inner Child, Kyanite for clarity and guidance, and Scolecite.
From the Crystal Matrix:
Scolecite is found as radiating groups of slender, striated prismatic crystals and as more resilient, polished hand-held pieces. Growing primarily in India and Pakistan and infrequently in Iceland and the US, it is composed of hydrated calcium aluminum silicate. It is part of the zeolite mineral family and is found as colorless white, pink, salmon, red or green.
Scolecite shows us the nature of our lives and of the universe. Because it can intensify flow, it is can make more light available. Unlike other light crystals, Scolecite’s energy when first held, is smooth and rather gentle… it is one of the most seemingly subtle crystals to be encountered.
Scolecite supports the heart in transforming old fears into trust, old beliefs into true remembrance, and permanently bringing love into your life. Scolecite shows you the separate paths available for each person and the numerous choices available to you, while still holding each person or experience within one solid base. - See more at: http://www.thecrystalmatrix.com/WordPress/scolecite/#sthash.OQvp0hIi.dpuf
Scolecite is a delicate stone in its natural state but you can find tumbled pieces, pendulums and jewelry to keep in your Auric field. Combining the stone with other minerals can amplify the experience and alter the kind of vibration you are carrying, color and stone-type as suggested in the Crystal Matrix newsletter such as Rose Quartz, Amethyst, or Apophyllite can create different frequencies. I like the Rose Quartz, Quartz, and Blue Coral, but you can easily take a Life Path Stone, noticeable as a stone with a line all the way around it forming a ring, and set your intention in a magickal space to help bring through the energies of love this month, especially in those "hard to reach spaces."
“Dare to Be When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully. When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light. When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it. When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway. When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back. When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some. When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going. When times are tough, dare to be tougher. When love hurts you, dare to love again. When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal. When another is lost, dare to help them find the way. When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand. When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile. When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too. When the day has ended, dare to feel as you've done your best. Dare to be the best you can – At all times, Dare to be!” ― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free
There are four tools you can draw on, at any time, but important important during this turning of the wheel, to help yourself in life at this time.
Water; Meditation; Study; Service.
Water as a metaphor in life has oodles of possibility. In my own Light Body practice some of the early lessons in meditation and energy center (new Chakra, not old) activation is mental fluidity and emotional flow. As I trained, these qualities were instilled over and over, and asked to practice, to create the flowing form of consciousness that is necessary to reach an activated Light Body state.
By the by, I'm going for my teaching instruction in the Awaken Your Light Body, practice and so that--and classes--will be happening in 2015.
Meditating on water as a Deva, seeking insights into our own fluid nature, our emotional, charged, and mercurial ability to shift and fit into new forms can be catalytic to learning.
Water flows into the form of the vessel, think about the shape of your situations and how you are flowing into them. Are you flowing over, are you wearing down, are you spilling, what is the necessary fluidity you need for your life at this time?
Meditation in my toolbox, is always welcome and most certainly necessary for understanding myself in life through non-judgemental observation, forgiveness, healing, insight, and yes even journey-work.
Lean on your meditation practices to expand your acceptance of the way things are. Do not "try to understand" others, learn to come from the space of acceptance, and forgiveness. Baring any real abuse (Mental, physical, or ANY), in which case I would be seeking help and trying to remove myself, acceptance of who others are, and who YOU are, is a powerful tool which leads to forgiveness. You may not be right together at this time but that is not a judgment, it's an observable movement of energy between souls, you are going one direction, and they another.
Offering: Loving Kindness Meditation
From the Ram Dass podcast files I bring you Sharon Salszberg, episode 49 from Ram Dass, Be Here Now Podcast. I've linked this pre-recorded talk (parts 1 and 2) before, the talk is insightful as Sharon speaks to us about Loving Kindness, but if you don't have time for the talk and would like to head to the meditation directly, skip to about 43 minutes in and you will find the guided meditation.
There are tools and techniques that one can make use of to have a happier life – and these tools do not require a belief system. It’s about the possibility of re-training the condition of the mind in a way so that old patterns of pushing away or holding on can be challenged and relinquished into a whole new way of relating to our experience.
The next tool I recommend is Study. Putting myself in a place where I am learning again, which lends to a more flexible mental state is yoga for living. Acceptance aside, sometimes our frustration stems from our own experience, and our inability, and so wish to, understand arises out of a need to know more about living.
Pick a direction that works for you, and learn. Study opens up new possibilities about the things we are learning.
Service, I end with this tool as a reminder... when we are so invested in our own needs, wants, ideas and desires that we fail to see past the lens of our own eyeballs, we are taking away from others.
I stand with that statement, "We are taking away from the experience of... The All." Magick is afoot when we are present in the now. Sometimes the answer is not our justifications, our reasoning, or our feelings--"Me. Me. Me!" but in giving up these things we want to punish others for, and just allow them to be served.
Yes sometimes serving others is "walking away," but I find that Service, regardless of its form, comes in the form of selflessness.
This November, be easy with yourself, with others. Be present. Be the loving kindness to yourself, so that you can be that radiance to others. Study to learn, to know, seek to be like water, flowing, forming, or eroding; Meditate for the answer first, or at least the path to what you seek and above all, love.
I'm at the Matrix on Sunday's, around Los Angeles the other six days of the week, and available online for readings!
